Mental Health and IDD Presented by Maggie Robbins, NC START Central
Tuesday January 19th and Tuesday January 26th 6:00-8:00pm
This two part training explores some of the core vulnerabilities impacting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities with Co-Occurring Mental Health Diagnosis. We will explore an overview of intellectual, adaptive and executive functioning and the ways in which those impact the presentation of mental health diagnosis often leading to under diagnosis, misdiagnosis or overshadowing of crucial medical diagnosis for those with IDD. This training explores some of the factors that can make accurate diagnosis challenging and aims to provide a strengths based lens to caregiver support as caregivers are often the ones providing crucial information to medical providers.
